Candidate markets — the waiting list

Every market we have screened but not catalogued, with scores, evidence and a first experiment.

These are proposed candidates, not catalogue entries: none carries an evidence state and none is in markets.json. Scores measure structural fit, not expected returns. The only performance figures cited are from a labelled synthetic benchmark and do not establish live-market performance. Nothing here is a promise of profit. What is measured, and what is stated as unknown, lives on Research & evidence.

Download: workbook (.xlsx, re-weightable) · candidates.json · CSV

Proposed, not catalogued. The catalogue lists the 135 markets that carry an evidence state. This page lists the markets screened after it — 67 candidates that are new to the catalogue or materially more specific than an entry in it — scored against nine criteria and gated by the four computability criteria. None of them is in markets.json, none carries a state, and a listing here is a research note, not a claim that P34 ships or has been pointed at that market.

Machine-readable copy: examples/data/candidate_markets.json · examples/data/candidate_markets.csv. Screened 27 September 2026; figures are as published by the cited sources on that date.

01

The finding in three sentences

Ten of the 67 clear the bar for a member workflow today, about fifteen belong on the enterprise track behind a licence or a relationship, and the rest mark where the computable-market thesis stops. One rule predicts fit better than any single criterion: anyone can register, few can execute — open access keeps the data honest, hard operations keep the mispricing alive. The theory behind that rule is in where inefficiency can be captured.

02

How the candidates were scored

Nine criteria, each 0–3, at equal weight (the workbook version lets you re-weight):

Criterion 0 3
Logistics complexity none / digital cold chain, hazmat, rigging, multi-leg or time-critical moves
Opportunity density sporadic continuous thousands
Open access closed for a new entity open registration
Long-tail mispricing standardised, index-priced badly catalogued, dispersion inside one type
Asset breadth few tickers thousands, changing weekly
Partial observability fully observed at trade outcome hidden for weeks–months (yield, default, regrade)
Consumption sink pure store of value literally destroyed, expired, retired, or venture-class death
Adaptation cadence latency race, or static days/hours with combinatorial recomputation
Ops-dependent selection no operator differentiation crews, lanes, storage, licences or exit channels change which deals are good

Structural fit = weighted average of the nine, scaled 0–100. Gate multiplier applies the four catalogue criteria (enumerable menu, attributable outcome, encodable constraints, repeated feedback with declined options recorded): Y = 1.0, P = 0.9, N = 0.6, multiplied. Perimeter multiplier: none 1.0 · licence/registration 0.95 · regulated commerce (gated launch) 0.7 · platform-rule/IP flag 0.6 · financial/securities perimeter 0.4 · prohibited or contract-barred 0.1. Actionable score = structural × gate × perimeter; the table is sorted on it.

  • Sales tape: Assignment (~1 month) → quarterly/biannual distributions → decay
  • Consumption sink: Catalogs decay slowly (score 1).
  • Primary risk / boundary: Securities status ambiguous (SongVest explicitly securities); thin flow (≈1/day); quarterly feedback.
  • First experiment: Research-only backtest of Royalty Exchange archive vs subsequent distributions.

67. Hotel room wholesale / bed-bank distressed inventory

Travel capacity · proposed group: Flagged · Adjacent: Reservation arbitrage (flagged)

  • Scores (logistics · density · access · long-tail · breadth · partial obs. · consumption · cadence · ops): 0 · 3 · 0 · 2 · 3 · 2 · 3 · 3 · 1 → structural 63.0, gates Y/Y/P/P, actionable 5.1
  • Reject reasons: Time · Attention
  • Access: Strictly B2B: Hotelbeds API needs signed commercial agreement + certification; Expedia TAAP needs IATA/ARC/CLIA; wholesale contracts prohibit public resale of net rates — no evidence small operators can buy allotments to resell.
  • Scale: Hotelbeds 180k hotels; WebBeds 365k+; hotel × date × room type = millions of cells.
  • Sales tape: Book → stay → cancellations/no-shows/chargebacks → monthly commission
  • Consumption sink: Room-nights perish (score 3).
  • Primary risk / boundary: Access effectively closed (contract bans) → boundary example: perfect menu, inaccessible.
  • First experiment: None for membership; only as an enterprise lane with an accredited agency.
  • Confidence: medium

Seven families, and the inefficiency each lives on

Family Markets Lives on Cost-side edge Estimate-side edge
Perishable auctions and spot wholesale Flower clocks, fish clocks, produce terminals, green-coffee spot lists, nursery stock, hay Perishability and attention: nobody can hold, and the lot you passed is compost by Thursday Cold chain, same-day dispatch, customers who turn stock in days Which lot, at which price, on which day, against your own realised sell-through
Surplus, liquidation and salvage Government surplus, restaurant equipment, lab and IT lots, phone lots, unclaimed freight, insurance salvage, appliance loads, architectural salvage, trade-show teardowns, film props Lemons and the winner's curse: as-is, photo-only, hard removal deadlines Pickup radius, refurbishment bench, a channel that clears in weeks Recovery from a manifest and a photo, corrected for the curse
Catalogue and reject-list markets Faire-class catalogues, cross-border marketplaces, private-label launches, TikTok Shop tests, component brokerage, consignment intake, offline media remnant, IPv4 leases Rational inattention: a buyer instantiates a fraction of a 100,000-brand or billion-part menu Landed cost, duty and returns handling; a channel that sells through Scoring the whole catalogue including the lines nobody ordered
Logistics capacity Car-hauling boards, inland barge quotes, chassis and trailer pools, container trading, pallet and tote recycling, recovered-material bales, empty-leg charter Operator-dependent value: one carrier's loss is another's backhaul; the menu expires in hours Truck or barge position, trailer type, depot network, lanes Which combination of loads to accept under routing constraints
Industrial feedstocks and remnants Paper stocklots, mill-end textiles and film, biomass auctions, DDGS, used cooking oil routes, spent catalyst Matching cost: a roll or a stream is worth more to the one small job it fits, and quality is only known on delivery Haul distance, conversion or sampling capacity, a pipeline of small jobs Spec-match and quality estimation; refusing the long-haul lot
Licensed and gated markets Pawn, cannabis wholesale, bulk and fine wine, aviation parts, medical equipment, ag-input dealers, carbon credits, PGM reclaim Limits to arbitrage by licence: incumbents run on policy tables written years ago Holding the licence or accreditation — P34 does not confer it Replacing the rule table with expected economics, as a gated launch
Venture-class bets Private-label launches, TikTok Shop tests, small-business acquisitions, Reg CF and syndicate deals Selection-biased histories: outcomes exist only for the bets taken Sourcing, QC and ad operations that lower the cost of a failed test Not making the false-positive bets that sink the portfolio
06

Where the thesis stops

  • No consumer, clean comps, open access — graded coins, vacant land: nothing removes supply, so capital competes the edge down to fees.
  • One irreducible shock — used mining rigs (hashprice), bulk wine (a multi-year oversupply): a one-line rule does as well as a model.
  • Feedback slower than the regime — timber, small-business acquisitions, Reg CF: outcomes arrive in months or years; only pooled histories reach the data floors in 03-data-format.
  • Manipulated telemetry — game keys, grey-market lots with counterfeits, untested hardware: refusal is most of the value and the label itself is corrupt.
  • Structure without access — hotel bed-bank inventory (contract-barred); licensed markets belong on the enterprise track with counsel first.

Proposing a market

Bring the 68th: hyperc.com/contact.html?topic=market. The useful first step is not the model — it is the snapshot. Start recording the whole menu you see each day, including everything you pass on; that record is the asset the model reads.

Waiting-list version 2026-09-27. Nothing on this page is a forecast of returns; the evidence base for P34 is one production deployment and a synthetic benchmark, and the thesis is that a market can fail the test.
